Each year, Herts For Learning host a maths competition for Year 5 children and allow all schools in Hertfordshire to take part. We submitted two teams for the event, each consisting of 4 children. The competition had 4 rounds: two general maths question rounds, an estimation round and a memory round. It is fair to say that the questions were incredibly challenging, yet our incredible children had such a good time taking part. In total, there were 260 teams that took part and the best scoring 20 teams will meet for a grand final. As of now, we don't know if we have qualified for the final however, we know the average score for each team is 130 and both of our teams scored far higher. Our Team B scored a whopping 190 points out of 240.

Regardless of the outcome, we are so proud of our children for diving out of their comfort zone and challenging themselves. As well as the obvious maths skills that were necessary, the children also needed to use team work skills to be successful.
