In October, as part of our work for Black History month, Year 5 read some wonderful poetry by the amazing author Joseph Coelho. We read a range of poems from the book ‘Overheard in a Tower Block’. We even performed some of the poems in class which was great fun! After reading and enjoying a wide variety of Joseph’s wonderful poetry, we wrote some of our own poems inspired by this great author.

We were so impressed by their use of ambitious verbs and fabulous adjectives! Their use of figurative language almost blew our socks off too! We are delighted with the content of their poems whilst keeping a structure consistent with the style of Joseph Coelho!
