Intent

English underpins all areas of the curriculum. As a school we teach children the skills of writing to develop their confidence in writing effectively for a range of purposes and audiences. By the end of their primary journey, we believe our children will have developed a love of writing and be able to express their thoughts and ideas clearly and creatively through the written word. Throughout our school, children are encouraged to develop the habit of reading for pleasure. Every class has access to a range of enriching texts that support a variety of genres, themes and interests. We believe that inside every child is a reader and writer; it is our goal, as educators, to unlock their potential.
