Supersized Climate Heroes
This term we are focused on being climate heroes. We have all undertaken pledges to the environment. We are pledging to use less power; reduce and reuse plastic and grow and nurture plants. In addition, we are involving ourselves in a variety of projects here in school.
Children are pledging to reduce their screen time and swap it for another activity; turn off electrical appliances; plant pollinator friendly plants and look after them – planting marigolds, chives or sunflower seeds can encourage bees and butterflies to thrive; save water by turning off the taps when we brush your teeth; switch from plastic food wrap to a lunchbox or reusable sandwich wrap; use metal straws and more.
Supersized school projects include: finding out about artists who use the medium of recycled materials; creating our own art from recycled products; planting over 60 trees from The Woodland Trust and bringing our wildlife garden back to life; planting potatoes & carrots at school; monitoring the bird and bat boxes in the local wood; planting bulbs in the park and recycling in the lunch hall.
Take a look at what we have been up to!
